MILAN, Sep 27, 2006/ FW/ --- A romantic adventure of ‘flower power’ heading into the Cosmo’s. Etro played with the past and future to create a new now that’s optimistic and bright.
The collection was a mix of bohemian, modern and science-fiction details. One of the strongest prints was a melange of floral fabrics pieced together in a patchwork pattern.
One outfit that gracefully showed the print was a v-neck dress with hidden sculptural pleats that played 60’s style dresses. Light baby doll dresses were embellished in black bead and sequin work that gave futuristic sparkle to the romantic flutter of fabrics.
Jackets in printed silks hung loose on the body creating a mercury flow to the sleek silhouettes. Silk tank tops hung loose and had tuxedo shirt ruffles down the front.
In solids or prints one tank was embellished in psychedelic blue details accenting the ruffles of the brown silk tank. Paired with high-waisted flower print shorts it created a new age look that was very boho.
Few other designers could take as many prints and fabrics and piece them together so smoothly. Opaque tights really helped bring the colours together giving groundwork for a playful palette.
Colour details such as patent leather patches and jewel embellishments were like badges brought from the future. The designs were an inspired mix between colourful trips of hippies from the 70’s and the vegetal world of the cosmos.
A short double-breast style vest was a very unique piece that was used throughout the show. The vest opened at the side and draped in a full piece partially covering half the body.
The look was a 1970s inspired space age vest that gave playful volume to the outfits leaving them extremely elegant and surrealistic.
Necklaces hung down to the belly button with large gold pendants in futuristic cubes, circles and rhomboids.
Shoes were shiny takes on Mary Janes and vampire vamps, and the messenger bag was transformed into the time travellers’ feminine purse.
A hundred light years away from home, Etro really hit the now for this season!
