MILAN, Jan 20, 2004/ FW/ --- Exte takes us on a trip to Mars, for a walk on the moon and on an aeroplane trip in order to observe the earth in all her greatness and intrigue for the autumn winter 2004/05 collection.

Disappointing however, the fact that the usually well organised house of Exte didn’t think it was fitting to wait for the previous show to finish before starting, resulting in numerous press drinking ‘illy’ coffee in the waiting area and trying to sneak a look at the collection before finally giving up and leaving.

The runway is bright white, and the background is a series of scenes from space and earth projected onto a giant screen.

Sergio Ciucci is inspired by the fusion of the functional, fascination of outer space from Mars to Star trek and pictorial art.

Designs on shirts and knitwear are geometrical and bold, pants are patchwork inspired by innovation and speed, and denim is moon ‘robot grey’, all part of visions seen from above, distanced and curiously observed.

Functional yet slick, Exte is the merging of comfort and the slim male silhouette.

Pants are either baggy moon walking style or streamline for supernatural speed, while skinny jackets, luxurious fur warmth and important lapels are layered over zip cardigans and loose sweaters.

‘Exte via satellite’ is part of a new search for stimulation and future technology, like the one they use is fusing together materials with no need for seams.

Space and the unknown has fascinated man for centuries and perhaps more than ever after since the first landing on the moon, mankind is closer than ever before in his attempt to understanding the greatness of the universe.

Views change, but futurism is now, Exte shies away from traditional visions we see from earth and looks at our world from above.
