Exte: New Urban Tribes
By Michelle Taylor
MILAN, Jun 24, 2003 /FW/ --- Underground and the new urban tribes inspired by the
town that is fashion: Milan, includes Crawlers, Sunset Generation,
Pacifists, Shopping Fans, Double Income Kids, Daydreamers, Disco
swimmers, Commuters and Brera 2.
Exte takes on multiple genres and
clothing mixtures to create the 2004 mens spring summer collection.
A video installation running as a backdrop, artists for models and a
runway with a crosswalk, Exte's designer Sergio Ciucci serches for a
diverse-yet-parallel message.
Small and large floral prints, tone on
tone white and polka dots in black, sportive mixed with classic.
Oversized tanks with the curious vacuum-packed applique's, fitted
jackets with baggy chenile bermudas, tuxedo pieces custom made worn
almost as a uniform, bomber jackets 50's style and Hawaiian hempen
shirts with Cuban ribbing and wetsuit fabric shirts and jackets are all
part of the underground meets establishment.
Accessories in warm red and oranges such as large sachels, two tone
rawhide bags are all exclusively in suede and footwear like ultra
comfortable sneakers, loafers and sandals complement the fluid
silhouettes that are Exte.
Freedom of role, creativity, transit. "My aim is precisely to launch a
social-oriented message," said designer of Exte, Sergio Ciucci.
