Frankie B.: That ‘70s Show

LOS ANGELES, Apr 2, 2004/ FW/ --- The 1970’s seems to be a common theme for some of the designers for this particular showing and Frankie B. did not falter from it.

After all, retro/old school seems to have been making a big come back with a vengeance and the public absolutely loves it. And why not, it was a time when everyone went out to party every Friday and Saturday nights dressed to kill and impress.

With 35 looks that consisted of paisley printed dress and halter tops in silk chiffon and silk charmeuse worn with low rise jeans and was low enough for a peek-a-boo of the ever popular sexy abs. Who ever said it had to be polyester to be retro.

Frankie B. even showed paisley printed cotton shirts worn by both men over a khaki cotton flat front trouser and women’s worn with a denim skirt in California wash.

The designer even had the runway covered with a gold color shag rug that had a buttery feel to it.

And just in case Los Angeles gets one of those blistery cold nights that surprises us in the early fall, Frankie B. had the answer to that with several coats shown. A metallic wool coat, a butterscotch plaid wool coat with fur trim on the collar and a mauve plaid wool coat also with fur collar will serve its purpose with that style LA is always looking for.

Other standouts included a rust turtleneck sweater dress with fur trim on cuff, a licorice faux fur hoodie vest worn with a slate peacock silk chiffon cowl neck top and an “F” pocket jean in blueberry and a shearling jean jacket in Misty worn over a slate peacock silk chiffon skirt.
