LOS ANGELES, Oct 31, 2003/ FW/ --- The last time FashionWindows covered Freddie Rojas was during the New York Fall 2002 season when the veteran designer relaunched and renamed the label “Private Circle” to “Private.”
And though Freddie Rojas has continued to be on the forefront of the Los Angeles fashion scene, it was not until last Tuesday that FashionWindows got a glimpse of his cutting designs once again.
The good news – Freddie Rojas continues to be innovative with his designs and still has his pulse on the market.
The bad news – Freddie Rojas only showed 16 designs, enough to whet our appetite and made the audience clamor for more.
Technically a presentation, Freddie showed his Spring 2004 collection at the Space, the smallest venue of Mercedes Benz LA Shows.
The Space was meant for a cozy and small group, and see the garments up close and personal.
The models literally walked a line, and then went up on platforms shaped like triangles for the press and the photographers to get a close up view and examine the garment.
Freddie’s silk hooded jacket, overall boy beater dress and fish apron opened the show. He followed it with a reverse vintage puffy, reverse tee and canvas work pant.
All 16 pieces were edgy, but not raw. In fact, all of them had a ‘finished’ look. And like most of the collections this season, it was youthful, meant for those under 30.
Though the designer gave a nod on the colorful and glittery trend this season, he added his own touch with patent leather as an embellishment to the garments.
The whole collection was vintage Freddie Rojas – classic designs with an edge.
