Frost French Spring 2006: Lingerie Inspired Looks
London Fashion Week Spring 2006
LONDON, Sep 23, 2005/ FW/ --- Sadie Frost make more headlines on the tabloid press than the
FrostFrench label that she co-designs with Jemima French.
But, this season, with their lingerie-inspired collection, this might be the big-ticket for the fledging label and for the designers to be recognized as serious about their craft and not just ‘dabbling’ in it.
Sending baby doll dresses and lacy shorts on the runway, it was a luxe boudoir for those who can afford it.
The more tailored separates of pencil skirts and the requisite lace chiffon tops are for the serious corporate women who wants to keep their femininity at work, and at play.
But the cool and fresh halter dresses that reach just at the knees will be the one that will fly off the shelves. It’s a go-anywhere, do-anything ensemble that an easily fit in an overnight bag if planning a weekend out of town.
FrostFrench did not break any new grounds in fashion, and no one expects them to. Yet, in their own way, Sadie Frost and Jemima French did break new grounds for themselves by creating a truly wearable collection that has a chance of being commercially viable if their tabloid royalty title is taken out of the equation.
Though the claim that FrostFrench are just ‘stylists’ and ‘not real designers’ might have a ring of truth into it, they are in good company.
Tom Ford had been accused of ‘just being a stylist’ yet he took Gucci into new heights and made it the chicest of the chic during his tenure with the Italian company.
So maybe, once the dust settles on Sadie Frost’s personal life and she is no longer fodder for the tabloid press, the label FrostFrench can be taken seriously as a viable business entity and not just a hobby by everyone concerned.
