Gianfranco Ferré DALLAS & MILAN, Mar 29, 2005/ FW/ --- After a successful Fall 2005 runway show, Italian designer Gianfranco Ferré held another catwalk presentation in Seoul last week, this time for the elegant and tranquil skies of Korean Air.

The Italian design master designed the new Korean Air uniforms that will be worn by the pilots, cabin and ground crews, including front-line staff and mechanics starting October.

"Uniform designs are an integral part of the corporate image. They must capture the airline's identity; express its values on the spot," said the Italian design master in a statement.

The first uniform change since 1991 for Korean Air, the new uniforms is a first for Gianfranco Ferré who had never designed for an airline before.

Created with paying absolute close attention to details such as fundamental matters of line and construction as he has always been known for, Gianfranco Ferré’s simple, uncomplicated and informal silhouette guarantees performance, comfort and practicality, keying unobtrusively into the quiet elegance that has always distinguished Korean Air.

In addition to the new uniforms, Korean Air will be introducing new aircraft interiors and color schemes to enhance passengers' in-flight experience.

"We are honored to be working with such a well-respected designer and know that his fashions will translate well into Korean Air's environments," said Korean Air Chairman and CEO, Y.H. Cho who also added that the new uniforms are part of the company’s effort to achieve ‘Excellence in Flight’ and provide the flying public with an enjoyable traveling experience.

With the Gianfranco Ferré designed uniforms, Korean Air joins the handful of airlines to heighten its fashion image with the help of designers.

Richard Tyler designed Delta's new look, Christian LaCroix will unveil for Air France this week, Yoshie Inaba created new uniforms for JAL and British Airways retained Julian MacDonald to spruce up its style.

Korean Air, with a fleet of 115 aircraft, is one of the world's top 20 airlines, and operates almost 400 passenger flights per day to 90 cities in 33 countries.
