MILAN, Feb 16, 2005/ FW/ --- JFK smartness opened the autumn winter 2005/2006 menswear collection for the sartorially superb Gianfranco Ferre on a cold sludgy winter day in Milan, where instead inside the Via Pontaccio space the clothes that graced the runway were perfect for the contemporary attentive man of today.
Taking more care than ever, and with a critical eye for detail, today’s buyer couldn’t help but be blown away by the seemingly effortless tailoring that has become this fashion guru’s recognizable signature.
Elegant and gentlemanly, his high collars are symbolic of a timeless classical wearable style. Jackets are layered with luxurious fur though never seemingly excessive, even when transforming sportive staples into elite pieces, like a delicious fur bomber jacket with elastic wrist and waistbands.
All jackets are lined with beautiful bold Saville Row silks that give light to an otherwise sober and traditionally reserved color collection. While flat fronted or double dart pleat trousers have been re-dimensioned to give the male a slimmer silhouette by tapering legs.
Military influences run through the collection for these present day soldiers, from gold naval buttons to admiral stripes and the importance of shoulders on warm winter overcoats that are strong and powerful, to the maxi comfort army greens leisure wear.
Fun and lightness come from must have accessories; sixty style glasses, maxi leather bags, riding boots along with equestrian hints, and the best belts of the season. Reminiscent of a cumber bun, giving dress-up highlights to even jeans, anywhere anytime.
Next seasons man dressed in anything by Gianfranco Ferre is charming and alluring, bound to turn heads from breakfast to evening cocktails, managing at all times to be a step ahead of the rest without even noticing. Modesty is now and will always continue to be a timeless grace.
