MILAN, Feb 28, 2002/ FWD/ --- Gianfranco Ferre's GFF collection presented Feb 27 was all
about smart and sexy co-eds.
Simple lines and simple colors dominated the fresh and young GFF autumn/winter womenswear
collection, and few outfits deviated from the solid red, black or white theme - all to great
effect.
Ferre started off the collection at his headquarters in Milan's Via Pontaccio with a series
of white longhaired fur coats that were cozy without feeling matronly.
The GFF woman wore comfortable black flat-heeled boots with these and every other outfit
that followed.
She favored shorts, skirts and dresses over pants. Perhaps she was a bit chilly at times,
particularly in a series of very light white skirts, but she always looked put-together.
A series of black jackets with sailor collars brought to mind a modern-day Madeline, while
others seemed designed for Tatum O'Neal circa "International Velvet."
And then there were sexy dresses for the young socialite in red and black, some with
sheer strips down the sides.
Pinstriped dresses were also a hit, in what was mostly a strong collection.
