MILAN, Jan 16, 2007/ FW/ --- Polished, dashing and self-assured, the Gianfranco Ferré gent is the 21st century Prince Charming who will swept a woman off her feet with his refined looks and ways.
No, he is NOT a metrosexual. In fact, he is a manly man; his countenance is reminiscent of the F. Scott Fitzgerald’s fictional character Jay Gatsby whose reputation precedes him as an enigmatic guy cut from the same cloth of the English gentleman.
But, instead of falling into Anglomania, Ferré proposed sleek and sharp silhouettes that are opulent and rich, that hints of a capacity to excess, but never towing the line even for one second.
Playing on volume, cashmere cardigans are worn with big scarves, a sable coat is worn over a cable turtleneck sweater, and black leather jacket was shown with a standing collar lined with fur.
Tone-on-tone tie and shirt were proposed with three-piece suits and coats made from high-tech fabrics were line with fur, while the burgundy alligator bomber jackets is a class of its own. Trousers were cut loose and sometimes given pleats for added volume.
There were very little embellishments, as Gianfranco Ferré allowed the masterful cuts and tailoring do all the talking and masculine charm take center stage.
