PARIS, Mar 13, 2003/ FW/ --- In Paris, designers like to show during the first five days
because that is the time when the whole press corps are in the city.
For 36-year old Jean Paul Knott who is also the Creative Director of Louis Feraud to be
scheduled last Friday, the second day of the Ready-to-Wear season is good. But his luck
stopped there.
He was sandwiched in between Emanuel Ungaro and Helmut Lang and was
placed in the unenviable position of being compared to these two houses.
And it worked to his disadvantage. Lang and Valli both showed stellar collections, and
though Jean Paul Knott had a very wearable collection, and actually very good to boot,
it paled in comparison to both Lang and Valli.
The Belgian designer who previously worked with Yves Saint Laurent and consulted at Krizia,
is famed for his execution of complex and fluid drapery showed his signature style for
his Fall 2003 collection.
Meant for the uptown girl, it was very refined with a hint of rebelliousness.
The cape held by clips which came in both beige and black is the perfect outerwear
in the city.
Generously cut pedal pushers and slouchy pants ruled the casual wear portion paired
with dropped shoulders or a jacket.
Jean Paul Knot showed a little skin with assymetrical cut on long sleeved blouses
and unbuttoned shirts.
One great thing about this collection- it can go from the runway to the showroom and
eventually the store shelf without making a any alterations.
