MILAN, Dec 20, 2003/ --- Rock chick, punk runaway has almost become synonymous of John Richmond.
With a fusion of fishnets and fishtails as he mixes styles, eras and cultures, John Richmond created a spring summer 2004 range full of contrasts.
Crochet net dresses and lace up skirts hint of a slight romanticism in his neo-gothic look. But come to think about it ‘gothic dark’ street style is based on romanticism.
Poetic is the mix between bright colours, bodices and ruffles.
Miniskirts for the rebel; embroidery and sequins to create individual style for the John Richmond woman.
Hoods and sporty essentials are mixed with more sartorial elements such as little jackets to give them an athletic street feel like the double lines running down the sides of pants.
Trousers are capri, jodhpur and jeans, some with coloured inserts revealed by the peeling back of zips and elastic cuffs.
Floral and bright prints are on bomber style jackets often with short sleeves and under mini skirts in the form of three quarter length leggings.
Ringlets and ropes are applied to net tops and under chiffon as if they are piercing and tattoo tribal designs are like breastplates.
Nights are reserved for ruffles and layering, ra ra skirts long and frilly with sporty tops makes them all the more ironical.
The Richmond journey is one of sexiness and about not being afraid to create mixtures in style breaking the rules and letting the rebel inside every girl out to play.
