DALLAS, Aug 14, 2006/ FW/ --- Named after a Plato treatise about vanity, Krizia has always lived up to its name. Classical and experimental at the same time, Krizia’s collections create the perfect harmony between two different inspirations to craft a new design.
Take its Fall 2006 collection for example. Shown in Milan last February and now available at Krizia boutiques worldwide, it’s classical tailoring meets sci-fi.
With silhouettes based on the classic A-line skirt, trench coat, tank and shift dresses, Krizia’s reworking of these wardrobe staples became a statement of glamorous looks with an attitude.
The raglan sleeves were used in color block day jacket made to look like a target; the obi sash was turned into the size of a bustier that covers the whole torso and paired with a box pleated skirt and long-sleeved turtleneck pull over.
The trench coat was given removable vinyl collars that looked like it came straight from the set of Stargate. Wear the vinyl collar and it will turn head, remove it and you’ll conform to the current trends.
Still, it is on the coats that Krizia excelled. Cut to be double breasted, a lone oversized button act as closure. The coat was retrofitted to have extra wide lapels, or layers of pleats for volume. It’s picture perfect and can be worn everywhere and anywhere.
At first glance, the collection might be too futuristic for some. But, in actuality, the whole collection is very wearable, from the layered chiffon dresses to the mini shift dresses and classic pantsuit sets.
Krizia’s fashion vision is out of the ordinary and its continuous innovative take makes it a favorite among the fashion elite.
