MILAN, Sep 28, 2006/ FW/ --- It was like a breeze was flowing down the runway, the clothes fluttered as if blown by the wind. Krizia’s summer collection was filled with fabrics and cuts that gave illusionist volumes. The movements and sways of the clothes were sophistically mesmerizing. Made for a Lady, they were classy and rich in refinement.
Silk chiffon in deep wine colours created lightness and apparent simplicity. Rouching of accordion pleats was mixed with its creases and folds. The result was Greek Goddess gowns that hung to the floor and floated above the ground.
The play on this combo of techniques created many dresses that, were each unique (and sometimes shorter). From a strapless dress with ruching covering the breast to the waist, to a V-neck that again was ruched below the breast to the hips.
Dresses came in different lengths and forms. Play on puff hems made for some beautiful pieces. A halter top dress cascaded down and up into the tight skirt below the result was a low puff that gave a slightly 20’s silhouette.
Gathers at billowing hems created extra volume while leaving the dresses feather light to the eye. Fabrics had texture and volume. The roaring 20’s inspiration showed in the tassel-embellished hems or the coats covered in tassel like yarns.
Shorts were extremely short and jackets safari inspired. Under the jackets the back was left open or covered in mesh. This sexy show of skin was counterbalanced by the sophisticated cuts and materials. Sexy lingerie inspired cover-ups with black lipstick and wavy hair all felt very film noir.
Panther silhouette appliqués covered long strapped animal bags and shoes had Geisha-style shaped wedge soles. Large china man style hats were done in fine raffia and were exaggeratingly large.
Krizia modernized a blend of classic ideas and created a modern woman with the traditional Krizia style.
