MILAN, Feb 23, 2007/ FW/ --- Color, elegance, decadence, and style define the Laura Biagiotti woman. She is in a class of her own a magical nymph like woman who brings an aura with her where ever she goes. She may not be young but the spirit in her is young at heart and the radiance of this inner youth shines.
Laura Biagiotti started off the collection with burst of color that emitted this inner youth. Bright pinks blended with bold prints for an almost summertime feel. Black then bursted in the stage as if screaming to the stylized floral print, “hold on, black is back!” Not a smooth transition but rather a forceful statement that although color is accepted it’s black that takes the reign.
Ultra feminine pieces stylized after menswear were done in rich luxurious fabrics. Chiffon collared shirt under a beautiful patterned knit with a velvet skirt or a tux inspired baby doll dress done in satin. Fabrics were textured and gave black a very three-dimensional feel. Belts broke up the color with a large brown plastic bow.
The belts were an important accessory helping create a silhouette by cinching dressed and jackets in at the real waist and hip lines. Chain belts also became necklaces with thick cords creating the ties. Colors ranged from the black and turned to browns and then whites.
Brown accordion pleat dresses or a jacket with mixed fabrics and a fringe. The cuts and styling was sophisticated yet still fun. Thick chains also embellished the purses while platform shoes, although shiny, were fairly simplistic.
The show ended in a bouquet of white all the way down to the opaque white leggings. Embellishments were rich, as feathers dangled off a two-piece suit or knits were covered in flowers. With out going overboard the look was very romantic yet strong at the same time. Geometric details like cubes on a shift dress and circular beads on the belts helped ground a bit of the fairytale look.
Laura Biagiotti, herself dressed in all white with a bouquet of white roses, was the last to walk down the runway and the perfect ending. She herself oozes inner youth and emits happiness and joy. The collection was about beauty, that on both the inside and out.
