MILAN, Sep 28, 2006/ FW/ --- This season Laura Biagiotti wanted things to ‘be green’ and the relationship between man and nature rekindled. To Africa and Jamaica is where we find the inspiration. In ponchos and tunics creating airy forms the clothes are less tailored and ridged instead they are more in a natural state.
Kaftans over large flowy pants represented the traditional African attire. Mixed with brilliant Jamaican yellows and tangerines the look is new. The woman is sexy in her confidence and doesn’t have to show off her body to get attention. Though she some times plays with transparent fabrics that hint to the form underneath.
Colours are vibrant and fiery. Reds, yellows, and oranges remind us of the great source of heat and energy, the sun. For the stars shiny shorts and sparkling fabrics, while for the earth it’s rich desert prints and colours. The nature themes are there and the clothes are down to earth.
In rich luxurious fabrics it was the loose cuts and airy flow that showed the woman’s connection to nature. Full tops were made of light fabrics letting the air and wind give life to the garment. Pom-poms on the edges and hems also created a lively movement.
Laura Biagiotti was daring in the fact that she did several jumpers in various cuts and styles. From a one-piece uni with flowy arms and bell bottoms to another with jodhpur style legs. She took acknowledge of a new trend and worked creatively with the possibilities.
