PARIS, Mar 3, 2005/ FW/ --- French fashion house Leonard presented a collection rich with the print codes that brought the house to the status of international player in the fashion world.
The vast majority of pieces in the collection have black fabric bases. They are embellished with the eternal print codes of flowers, which embody the aesthetic look upon which the Leonard look reposes.
The Japanese inspired wrap top with open large sleeves arriving mid-arm’s length was very nice to see in this collection dominated by stylish dresses which descend midway down the calves.
Some long sleeved dresses had semi-puff sleeves. That is in line with what a number of other top fashion houses are proposing for the winter.
In this collection, Leonard did not offer fur as it has done in past winter collections. However, a paisley coat came down the runway and was absolutely tremendous!
No one could ever copy Leonard and get away with it. So singular are the prints that one well-known journalists of a certain age whispered to me that her mother wore similar creations by Leonard. She then agreed that the similarity is achieved through the eternal elegance of the prints.
The heels of the collection are all high, strappy and flesh revealing. The looks were all complimented with a long gold chain.
The hair proposed by Leonard was also tremendous. It looks as if it were directly inspired by that created by Glen Plaistowe for Susan Saint James in Stan Stagoti’s 1979 hit film, Love At First Bite. Pulled back and stacked with hairpiece pulled together in a ponytail that has been curled for volume, the hair here is a winner for Fall/Winter 2005-2006.
