Leonard - Flower Power

Paris, Oct 6, 2001/ FW/ --- As the third day of the Paris ready-to-wear season comes to a close,
Leonard's runway show at Le Carrousel du Louvre was an explosion of prints and flowers.
Showing a very focused collection of floral prints, with solid colors to break the flower
explosion, I felt as if I was back in Hawaii.
The only problem is that native Hawaiians and the "kama-ainas" (Hawaii residents) do not
dress that way.
In short, I got a little lost with geography in this collection.
Leonard's detailing was beautiful and the tailoring was impeccable.
I just cannot see a woman building her wardrobe around it.
The best thing is to get 1 or two pieces to add prints to someone's wardrobe to be worn
on a trip to the beach or during a picnic.
There is a subtle sensuality in the clothes, which in today's environment of overt sexuality
really makes the clothes desirable.
I just wish that Leonard made more of the solid colors with flowers as embellishment, instead
of making the floral prints the main fare of the collection.
