PARIS, Oct 11, 2003/ FW/ --- With flowers as one of the strongest trends in Paris, the House of Leonard which is known for its imaginative floral prints found itself as a main attraction at the Louvre today.
Presenting to an audience who filled the venue to capacity, plus the standing room, Leonard, who hired new designers this season brought flowers of China, orchids and bamboo into the spotlight.
First, there were the Chinese inspired pieces – Capri pants, skirts with high slits, maillots and bloomer bustiers.
And then, there were the swimwear collection, which would look good on Halle Berry if ever she agrees to a spin-off of James Bond as female super agent, Jinx.
The day and cocktail dresses featured geometrical pastels and petals, palms and orchids.
Needless to say, the whole collection has a feminine aura, which Leonard is also known for.
At Leonard, the song, ‘I enjoy being a girl,’ is not just a line. It is taken seriously, and brought to life with glamorous silhouettes and cuts.
Leonard also used special fabrics for the collection --- Mikado which is 100% silk jersey, Nara which 100% silk muslin, Peau D’Ange which is a mix of 20% Lycra and 80% Polyamide.
As expected, there was a large Japanese delegation in the audience, both from the press and buying offices.
There was also a large contingent of the ladies who lunch among the audience, including the front row.
As the saying goes, ‘when you’re hot, you’re hot!’ Flowers are in and Leonard remains king.
