DALLAS, Jun 5, 2007/ FW/ -- French designer Louis Féraud once said that "a dress is like a caress, and that it is a
declaration of love."
In fact, he described himself as "Louis Féraud who adores women." And this mantra had always
been followed with his creations.
Féraud designed for women who are self-assured and love being a woman. And for them, the designer
created glamourous and luxurious clothes, worthy of being worn by Joan Collins at the famous
1980s TV series, 'Dynasty.' He also created suits and dresses for the TV series 'Dallas,' the
nemesis of Dynasty at Neilsen's rating.
Being in those two shows cemented the Americans love affair with Louis Féraud. Though not
necessarily a household word in the U.S., his creations became part of the 1980s pop culture.
Féraud's affiliation with celebrity is almost part legend. His fame started when Bridgette
Bardot wore one of his creations in Cannes. Since then, Féraud has dressed some of the world's
most beautiful women - Catherine Deneuve and Kim Novak to name a few.
He died from Alzheimer's in 1999 at the age of 78.
After his death, his house was taken over by
the same year that the house was taken over by Dutch firm Secon, which now shares ownership
with Féraud chairman Michael Rover and Escada AG.
Yvan Mispeleare took over as Creative Director. In March 2002, Mispeleare left Féraud and
was replaced by Belgian designer Jean-Paul Knott.
Since the 2006, Jean Pierre Marty has taken the creative helm at Feraud.
