MILAN, Sep 27, 2006/ FW/ --- Mariella Burani’s delicate yet strong woman turns into a romantic gothic gypsy for Spring 2007 making her mysterious and alluring capable of inner strength as she traverses the day from dawn till dusk.
Giving a nod to the black & white trend this season, Burani dresses her in a white layered skirt paired with a white formal blouse overlaid with a black chiffon jacket, created for texture rather than to keep her warm.
But don’t worry; Burani did not forget day jackets that usually came just above knee made delicate by tiny covered buttons. Sometimes, it’s a cape that covers the shoulders, and at night, the dependable ostrich boas in different spring colors become the main staple.
There’s darkness around the Mariella Burani woman, but it is softened by the flowers on her hat or by an elaborate headdress. Floral prints were also seen on mini empire dresses that are sometimes embellished with lace on the hemline.
Trousers are usually wide legged and easy-to-wear. Exceptions come in the lace Capri length leggings that work both as a hose or pants.
Embellishments are ethnic, with a Byzantine or Moroccan influence. Shoes either come as a wedge, stacked heel or platform, no stilettos.
Skirts are hipsters and usually layered, held by a wide belt around the hips. The silhouette is slim, but sometimes hidden by the volume of ruffles and layers.
The shoulders and waist are emphasized. Spaghetti straps and bustier tops make the shoulders very alluring while ruching on the bodice make the waist look tiny and defined.
It’s a mysterious woman that hides mischievousness with her ultra feminine clothes.
