PARIS, Jul 3, 2005/ FW/ --- Last week in Milan, in a warehouse space, innovation and installation come together for the Marni 2006 spring summer menswear collection.
Excess is undesirable as the minimal is celebrated in this wardrobe that plays on the interaction between formal and casual as romantic shapes are redefined where natural combinations cooperate with volumes and traditional proportions.
Contemporary lifestyles are interpreted via three piece suits, short trench coats, the return of the waistcoat, the modern understanding of shorts, along with traditional trousers, pullovers and shirts, all with a subtle twist of tones, textures and cuts.
Select detail like hand-painted teardrops, the use of geometrical print, crochet accessories like the ties and even polka dots and stripe fabric, and hidden inserts add light and flashes of color to the innovative collection.
This season sees the debut of Marni sneakers. The delicious hand tinted men’s sneakers are the collaboration venture with the Japanese licensee of the Patrick brand, the Kamei Product Corporation, delivering poetry to feet and one-off exclusive shades of color.
The distribution will be limited to Marni boutiques across the globe and also to a small number of prestigious multi-brand stores beginning with the spring summer 2006 season.
