PARIS, Mar 12, 2003/ FW/ --- Though the impending war has been unanimously ignored by the fashion set during
the current Paris fashion season, reality crept in by accident at Martine Sitbon's show when she sent
models wearing olive green outfits made from the same high-tech fabric of the training/war gear uniforms
of the U.S. Army.
Designed for extreme cold weather, the fabric is available commercially even before the Pentagon
decided to incorporate it as part of the troops gear, hence it is not surprising that the
fabric found its way on the runway.
And thank goodness that Martine Sitbon designs for both aesthetics and function, unlike
military designers who just think of functionality, because Martine Sitbon's urban warriors
definitely look beautiful unlike their military counterpart who look menacing.
Vests and jackets and cute mini skirts, dresses and skorts were sent on the runway.
And because the fabric light, you can be rest assured that the wearer is well protected
against the elements, thanks to technology.
Sitbone also sent knits and leather on the runway, and to make sure that no one feels cold,
they were paired with arm warmers, leggings and extra high boots.
The Martine Sitbon woman will surely be warm this coming winter.
The whole collection was very wearable but some of the looks did not work.
The designer used layers of tulle for volume that made some of the outfits looked like
ballet dancers. Stella Tennant's tall stature did not look flattering as she looked
like an oversized ballerina in her tutu.
Except for that 'tutus', this collection is something to look forward to this coming
fall.
