NEW YORK, Feb 16, 2004/ FW/ — Monique Lhullier, a West Coast based designer who started with
as bridal designer is back in New York with her Fall/Winter 2004 collection.
With her designs seen more and more on the “red carpet”, the designer now shows the fashion flock that she too can design for the average (maybe not so average) woman with the desire to look just as glamorous as some of the celebrities who’s worn her designs with sophistication and just the right touch of edginess to it.
With just the right amount of sexiness peeking out from under a cashmere cardigan is a silhouette of a corset bound by a satin cummerbund and a midnight blue, knee length slip/skirt gives one who wears it innocence and edge all in one depending on just how much you want to show off.
But the designer’s chocolate velvet tuxedo looked very soft, smart, sexy, sheik, and sophisticated all rolled into one.
With tuxedo in mind, the use of satin wrapped around cummerbund style was widely used by the designer in several pieces and gave the collection a different emphasis.
Lhuillier showed some of her best with her coats, a bronze lame trench and fox-trimmed embroidered overcoat that was more than eye catching and would certainly have one looking like a true celebrity.
