NEW YORK, Feb 7, 2006/ FW/ --- In the midst of her pregnancy while playing with vintage wallpapers thinking of ways to redecorate her future home due to the upcoming addition to her family and getting lost paging thru interior design books, her Fall 2006 collection came to light as mentioned in her program.
35 exits made up the lineup for her very 1960’s collection of sensual romantic pieces.
Using luxe brocades and jacquards as well as tulle, taffeta and Chantilly lace in a lush palette of mainly black, charcoal, and grey with a mix of copper pink, smokey lavender and garnet even managing floral print was the main contributor.
Maybe because of Lhuillier’s condition, everything seems to have been delivered oversized – covered buttons, flared out sleeves, collars, bubble skirts and baby doll dresses creating that voluminous silhouette that worked quite well with the entire collection.
The cocktail dresses and evening gowns screamed romance with the Juliet sleeves, and the strapless gown were rich with an embroidered bodice (no other accessory necessary).
And following the trend of the season, Monique Lhuillier also has her share of coats and furs showing a black floral brocade ¾ sleeve double breasted overcoat, a bordeaux brocade crop coat, black mink caplet and a silver grey mink caplet just to name a few.
Just by looking at her Fall 2006 collection, it’s clear why one of her pieces can very easily be spotted at one of many red carpet affairs, it’s because she does eveningwear so well!
Congratulations again on a great collection and see you again next season…
