DALLAS, Nov 23, 2004/ FW/ --- Los Angeles-based designer Monique Lhuillier is well known for
her fashion forward yet exquisite bridal gowns.
Last September in New York, the emerging designer proved that her ready-to-wear line is graceful, feminine and as exquisite as her bridal line.
Inspired by the graceful of the ballerina, Monique Lhuiller’s Spring 2004 collection’s layered; twisted and tied looks are playful and feminine at the same time.
The classic tweed jackets took on a whimsical silhouette when fringes were added as an embellishment and when a lightweight, transparent shell together with a pair of hot pants completed the look.
Narrow shoulders, oversized skirts, and flowing yet body-hugging gowns gave an overall light and sweet look for the collection.
Playing with Swarovski crystals and beading, Monique Lhuillier’s floral print looked innocent and sophisticated at the same time.
Her take on the use of lace is also worth a second look. Using old-fashioned lace designs from the 1920s, Monique Lhuillier bias cuts sewed into panels and layered skirts fit the young debutante.
Memorable pieces included the black Alencon lace single-breasted jacket with a front tie paired with a black and white embroidered pointelle A-line skirt over laser cut tulle.
