NEW YORK, Feb 9, 2007 / FW --- Designers get inspiration from the most unexpected places and for Fall 2007, Monique Lhuillier had two muses, Frank Gehry's Walt Disney Concert Hall and the glamour of old Hollywood.
For architectural buffs, the moment Frank Gehyr’s name was mentioned it was plainly obvious that some metallic elements are going to be part of the collection. Staying true to her inspiration, Lhuillier created belts with steel rivets, brooches and cameos that are made of steel.
With silver and gold lamé as the central fabrics, Lhuillier’s gilded creations approached futurism but softened with tiny ruffles and ruching, resulting to polished and refined looks that are dreamy and contemporary.
In general, shoulders were emphasized with halter necklines, tiny puff sleeves and tube tops. Still, Lhuillier has a special treat, wherein the back became a focal point with inserts of lace and keyhole necklines created a subtle sexy effect.
With the final several exits made up entirely of evening gowns, do not be surprised if during the Academy Awards, someone at the red carpet will answer ‘Monique Lhuillier’ when asked ‘who is she wearing?’
After all, Lhuillier’s atelier is just a hop & skip away from Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
