Monique Lhuillier NEW YORK, Sep 13, 2006/ FW/ --- Presenting a solid collection of 36 looks, Monique Lhuillier continues to create clothes with natural elegance that will surely delight her fans this coming spring.

Proposing sharply tailored pants and military-inspired jackets for daywear, Lhuillier showed her own take to the very popular mannish clothing for women, giving it grace and femininity by using a thin belt or bell sleeves to soften the look.

And as always, it is in the eveningwear that the Los Angeles-based designer excelled, starting with the knee-length cocktail dresses that came either sleeveless, strapless or halter turtleneck.

Exercising control on volume, Lhuillier cut it slim with just a tad of sheering. Emphasizing the waist with either a thin belt or an obi-wide ornate belt, the silhouette leaned towards structured than flowing.

For texture, Lhuillier exercised control once again, using beading, ruffles, tiny fringes and jewelry that have been placed carefully in just the right places. Sticking to the old adage of ‘less is more,’ the embellishments were just the right amount and not overpowering.

Lhuillier kept raw linen delicate by carefully cinching it at the waist with a classic pearl band, embroidered or jeweled sash, adding a new facet for her eveningwear pieces.

Adding her own twist to a linen raffia cocktail dress for example with ruffle placket and hem for day, then presenting it in an asymmetrical pleated bodice cocktail dress is such a wonderful illustration of her ingenuity.

And as always, her exquisite embellishment is just enough to keep her pieces company and one need not bother wondering what else to wear, except maybe one of her also very luxuriously bon chic clutch purses which she introduced for the first time at the tents from Monique’s new hand bag collection.
