MILAN, Jan 18, 2005/ FW/ – Ruggedly refined was the tone for the Neil Barrett autumn winter 2005/06 show. In a signature solemn Saville Row palette of navys, royal blues, grey and blacks along with fine tailoring skill and a hint of mod fifties edge showing off ankles, this Englishman’s wardrobe is one for an on the go quiet, yet determined man.
Passive aggressive, the Barrett man stands out in a crowd due to his attention to dress choice, sartorial posture and slick look of both comfort and elegance.
These winter wonderland wonderers are romantic in flat fronted trousers that taper at the ankle and are accompanied by washed buffalo boots and belts for a stomping statement.
Shrunken and cropped, yet adhering to the slender masculine silhouette, Neil Barrett manages to layer jackets and piece together looks of ‘beaten-up way or ultra precise, addressing the needs of the assured man’.
Anoraks, trenches and the mackintosh can be worn from day to night dressing up casual solids like jeans and knits. Practical and particular, sleeveless jackets are hooded and belts wrap drop waists at the hems of his charming looks while zips are both functional or used simply as strong detail.
Whether be it maxi bags or braces left to dangle, details are accurate and never a simple incident. Satin lapels lap at velvet tuxedo jackets and the knitted biker ‘chiodo’ is the new must have piece for next winter making keeping warm in double or single breasted coats and jackets in creased metal wools is no longer an obligation but rather a pleasure.
This English country inspired collection both in detail and fabric is bound to be more city distinguished and metropolis progressive than ever.
