MILAN, Sep 26, 2005/ FW/ --- The master menswear creative Neil Barrett has finally designed a dress! And they are simply wonderful.
Taking menswear techniques and craftsmanship, Barrett for spring summer 2006 has designed a collection that not only deals with two diverse silhouettes, but he has managed to do it in such a way that a detailed sartorial jacket remains feminine and seductive.
Cutting and pasting, leaving edges raw and using sleek fabrics, Barrett creates texture and pays particular attention to classical men’s tailored details such as incorporating elements like back darts in trousers, check pattern edging and tie pins on shirts.
Stiff collars on crisp white lustrous shirts ensure composure under jackets, while trouser lengths are shortened to create neat shorts in reduced womenswear sizes. The same philosophy applies to multi-pocketed jackets and bombers made of the softest nappa.
Peplin incorporated into a trench helps maintain the shape while the visible stitching of this design intellect plays on the contrast of classical and casual wear, making his cuts desirably feminine.
Crushed leather bags and ballet shoes made transformed into a pump accessorize a collection that women have been imploring Barrett to do for years. Ladies, it is finally here.
