LOS ANGELES, Oct 31, 2003/ FW/ --- According to the show notes, Pegah Anvarian, after watching “Black Orpheus,” was strongly affected by all aspects of the film – the music, the colors, and the overwhelming beauty of the story and the actors. From this, “Brazil Underwater” was born.
With coral, aqua and old rose, the Dallas native designer brought the sea to life on the runway with her sexy yet understated collection, giving homage to the 1970s Brazilian underwater glamour and chic.
Navel baring low necklines, asymmetrical hemlines, keyhole dresses and harem pants gave the collection an aura of femininity and sensuality.
There were a lot of 1970s influences in the silhouette, yet one cannot help but think of Sophia Loren wearing some of the sexier pieces during her heyday as a Hollywood screen goddess during the 1960s.
Gowns and dresses were all flowing and soft, while the pants were all body-hugging and tight fitting, showing all the curves of the wearer.
The collection is not for the faint of heart. Wearing Pegah Anvarian means being noticed, or even becoming the center of attention.
Pegan Anvarian fans will be happy to know that the designer kept her famed draping techniques and made it a big part of her Spring 2002 collection.
