LOS ANGELES, Dec 27, 2005/ FW/ --- Design and function has always been Roberto Menichetti’s forte and his menswear spring /summer 2006 collection that will be available in stores soon best exemplifies the Italian designer’s ability to create clothing that are wearable and very desirable.
It’s a collection for the ‘regular guy’ where comfort and conformity are very important. Loose fitting pants and shirts, suit jackets that are just the right fit and cardigans that are relaxing are the main fare of this collection.
The clothes can be at home in Los Angeles, New York, including the Midwest. It’s not actually Main Street USA because it is easy to see the rugged men of Texas and New Mexico sporting the clothes.
It’s the function that counts and the basic great design. It might look conservative to some, yet it does not look boring. It’s ‘timeless’ to use a phrase.
And the best part of the collection, teens and twenty-somethings will also love it. With zip-fronted jackets and baggy shorts, it’s skateboarding or rollerblading time!
In an interview with the International Herald Tribune Roberto Menichetti said, “I really try to understand what's new, what the new generation wants.”
If this is his take for the youth, bravo! Menichetti has his pulse on the young, together with the young-at-heart, because it is also easy to see the Baby Boomers wearing this collection.
The boomers who will start turning 60 in 2006 refuse to get old. To them, fifty is the new thirty-five. Hence, at 60, they are just entering middle age. After all, most of them plan to live until 100.
In one collection, Menichetti was able to reach 3 generations, a feat that is hard to begin with, yet the Italian designer did it with aplomb.
