MILAN, Sep 30, 2005/ FW/ --- Signing his third collection for his eponymous womenswear label, Menichetti brought his audience to the world of utilitarianism where design and function converge to form a new urban uniform that lacks the frills yet beautiful in its simplicity.
Trench coats that can be worn as a dress or a compliment to a pair of trousers and of course use to ward off the cool breeze of spring.
Wrinkled collarless kimono tops with hidden zips under the plackets are also multi-purpose, a go-anywhere item that can be stashed in an overnight bag easily, not worrying if there will be creases tomorrow.
These are the innovations of Menichetti; a designer who “invents” the fabric by intertwining natural yarns such as wool, cashmere and cotton with more technological fibers, a very important aspect of all his collections wherein research is done before a piece is designed and created.
And for Spring / Summer 2006, he came up with a new sensibility, sans the nostalgia of the past, but looking forward to the future.
In short, this collection is for the woman of today who has a career while raising a family. She’s chic and stylish, but needs to be able to wear many hats.
For her, Menichetti created sleeveless one-piece dresses made from fabrics that are easy to care for. The silhouette is simple, the tailoring impeccable.
The color palette is neutral, so that mixing & matching is easy. She’s very intelligent, but her time is precious, so she chooses wide-legged pants that hung lightly from the hips, wears a simple shell blouse and then covers it with a short-cropped jacket, a look that blends well with any surroundings.
You might think that she is a chameleon, but she not because you notice her in an all white ensemble of an A-line skirt and a white tunic with a high collar.
She looks good in everything she wears, because that’s what Menichetti had planned for her.
