PARIS, Feb 28, 2005/ FW/ --- Sharon Wauchob’s Fall/Winter 2005 – 2006 collection is less about softness and femininity and is more about motorcycle riding Valkyrie style independence.
Now as we all know, the Valkyries are the maidens from Norse mythology who served Odin, father of the Thunder god Thor, as choosers of slain warriors who were taken to reside in Valhalla. That said, this is obviously is a collection for women with an independent state of mind and purpose.
The show began with pencil thin pants with zips everywhere and worn with a translucent top with bronze buttons. The pants were like a leitmotif or lifeline in this collection. They came in black cotton, denim and even leather.
Wauchob did very intricate, short-cropped jackets with zippers, buttons and appealing cuts.
Her dresses had indescribable craftsmanship to them. One tight black dress had the underarms dropping very low and giving it a bolero quality. This is a dress that is definitely meant to be seen in.
Another dress, which came much later in the show, was done in a silky champagne coloured fabric. It has a deep plunging V-neckline. It has great movement to and easily draws the attention of the eyes of onlookers.
I personally preferred the wide-band hipster skirts that drop to the knees. In blue and military olive green, they have structure yet do not look to restricting.
