Sharon Wauchob PARIS, Oct 12, 2004/ FW/ --- Irish-born designer Sharon Wauchob chalked up another winning collection during the first day of the Paris pręt-a-porter season with her alternative romantic creations garnering smiles and applause to a full capacity crowd at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts.

Mixing chiffon, leather, cotton knits and beige denim – fabrics that usually do not go together very well, Wauchob was able to pull it off with aplomb.

Using juxtaposition of the garments – a jacket becomes a skirt, while the skirt becomes a bib, add lots of details like big covered buttons, double stitching and pockets in unusual place, the emerging designer proved that she is here to stay and on her way up!

Standouts are the washed out prints on gauze-like chiffon that came as a dress, an apron worn over a catsuit and as tote bags. Accessories of choice are strings of big plexi-glass balls in black or clear.

Wauchob also sent out platform shoes that seem to be inspired by the national Dutch shoes, but it had been modernized for the urban women, and of course, for the designer’s fans that are always looking for something different to wear.

Season after season, Sharon Wauchob has grown in strength, both in her artistic ability and the commercial viability of her garments and accessories. Currently, she enjoys cult status among her loyal fans, but don’t be surprised if the mainstream fashionistas start wearing her creations, too.
