DALLAS, May 6, 2007/ FW/ --- For the past several seasons now, the trend has been slim, even narrow silhouettes. But, for Fall 2007, Stella McCartney begged to differ and chose exaggerated 1980s shapes complete with shoulder pads comparable to the size of American football uniform.
This was seen predominantly in the collection beginning with a high-tech grey print on black coat with a ruffled hemline, to the oversized gray V-neck pullover and gray cardigan, all the way to a black trapeze slicker with very wide sleeves.
Thank goodness that she did not stay in the mood for the dresses and eveningwear. There is the beige pencil skirt teamed with a tone-on-tone blouse, a black dress with tiny ruffle layers on the mini skirt topped with a double-breasted short cropped jacket.
The light olive empire cocktail dress with spaghetti straps and the bare-shouldered full-skirted cocktail dress have a slimming effect.
Now, let it also be said that even with the supersized silhouette on the outerwear, Stella McCartney offers the best coats for the season beginning with the beige anorak to the navy-inspired peacoat all the way to the trapeze shaped coats.
Even the tasseled wool coats that look like fur from afar (gasp!) actually look good. Stella has always been true to her vegetarian roots since the beginning. And, though this piece of news would not mean anything to fashionistas, it will mean a lot to Stella.
New York-based Hain Celestial Group, the company who bought the Linda McCartney brand of vegetarian food announced last May 2 that it would re-launch the brand in the U.K. and will expand its reach in Europe and the U.S. within the next two to three years.
