Sue Wong Spring 2006: As Enchanting As Ever
Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios (Los Angeles Fashion Week) Spring 2006
By Heide Winkenwerder

Sue Wong LOS ANGELES, Oct. 21, 2005 / FW / --- Sue Wong presented ‘Enchantress’ for her Spring 2006 collection showing a total of 65 exits in six different phases of her muse.

As an art lover, Sue continues to mesmerize her followers with the artistry she manages to incorporate into her designs. Her mastery with beadwork is simply impeccable not forgetting other fine detailing she uses on her creations such us ruching, appliqué, and embroidery.

Her designs are continuously seen worn by numerous Hollywood celebrities at galas and at various red carpet affairs and rightfully so since they are a perfect fit for this city.

As mentioned in her press notes, Sue Wong interpreted in her Spring 2006 collection, the Enchantress manifests herself in a variety of different forms. She inhabits and personifies the global Bohemian, the Amazonian jungle goddess, the Victorian/Edwardian romantic, the graceful and poetic ballerina and the gritty Gin Alley Flapper.

In her new Spring Collections: Sue Wong Nocturne, Sue Wong Collection and the new Sue Wong Chemise, the Los Angeles based designer invokes this worldly vision of the goddess/Enchantress inherent in all women.

Incorporating bright tie-dyed patterns, vivid tropical prints, antique tea-dyed lace and rich, elegant embroideries, bright florals and voluminous ball gowns with ruched and petal organza skirts all of which were embellished with intricate beadwork, a Sue Wong signature detail as in seasons past shown in cocktail dresses to evening gowns.

But her finale, “White Wedding” is an enchantress in her own right. Beautiful and romantic and can only be celebrated whether a first time bride or an eternal bride and this journalist’s favorite.

Standout from the finale is the vintage silk charmeuse deco-beaded gown with beaded skirt and train and the halter fish tail lace gown with beaded scrollwork appliqué and fishtail skirt with silk roses appliqué.

It’s simply hard to find just the right words to describe Sue Wong’s pieces since it’s a must see for yourself to truly appreciate it. Mere words are simply not enough to truly capture this couture like design.

Bravo once again Sue Wong and this journalists hat is off to you on such a great collection!
