PARIS, Mar 1, 2007/ FW/ --- Capes, trench coats, suit dresses and slouchy pants, Veronique Branquinho’s allusion to romance for her Fall 2007 collection was very apparent when the first model came out.

Clad in a monastic black & white coat that reached just below the knee, the bodice adorned with a black bib, one was instantly reminded of Anton Chekhov’s ‘The Cherry Orchard,’ specially with the backdrop of a forest, alluding to the inherent beauty of nature and the joy it brings.

With her signature monochromes, the whole collection played on the varying shades of black & white and all the washes of gray in between them.

Interspersed with earth tones of green, red and mustard, which were used sparingly in the collection, there was understated classic elegance that played on the classic atmosphere that pervades the whole collection.

Poncho inspired capes with turtlenecks, trapeze-shaped blousons in three-quarter sleeves, and oversized pullovers in black & gray stripes, the Veronique Branquinho woman is an upper-crust beauty who does not flaunt her wealth and is not a snob.

There is a certain serenity in her, accentuated with her classy manner. She does not seek attention, but everyone looks at her anyway because of her confidence and calm manner.

She’s mysterious in her black travel cape, and turns your eye when she takes it off only to reveal a black & white polka dot skirt teamed paired with a turtleneck pullover, teamed with granny boots.

She has fire within her, underneath that quiet exterior; hence, you want to discover what makes her tick and know more about her.
