DALLAS, Mar 17, 2004/ FW/ --- Before you start thinking that Zac Posen had gone sci-fi, erase that thought from your mind. His Fall 2004 collection entitled Blixen is just his ‘vision of future elegance, magic, simplicity, femininity and urban chic.’ That there is some fantasy/sci-fi elements in it… well… let us just call it imagination.
That Zac Posen brought his audience to a landscape that can only be seen in Star Trek is beside the point. The collection is firmly rooted on earth, and definitely of this decade.
Starting with the ice pond vest, frost blouse and gilded short pants, we knew that the perennial emerging talent has gone metallic this season. There is lots of burnished metallic cotton from dresses to pants that would fit nicely in Manhattan’s buzzing nightlife.
Then he decided to play with fur as seen on the vest and jacket to keep his ladies warm.
Zac Posen always like his ladies to look glamorous and elegant, and giving a nod to the romantic trend this season, he went for ruching instead of ruffles, and bless his heart for that.
It’s futuristic chic all right. And you know what, it works! Plus the dramatic landscape helped to pull it all together.
