DALLAS, Apr 6, 2008 / FW/ — Someone once said that if you live long enough, you will see the same thing twice. Betsey Johnson, the quintessential New York designer and one of the pillars of the Big Apple fashion has been around long enough for at least two generations to enjoy her creations. Her Fall 2008 collection is signature Betsey Johnson, familiar to many, but also new in its rendition.
Bright colors, bright prints, sexy stockings and leggings, cigarette pants and figure-hugging dresses – this could have been the description when punk was in vogue. But, this is 2008, where Japanese anime and video games rules. And while the Betsey Johnson ladies are real, they could as well be manga characters.
In our high tech world, virtual world designers as in video games and animations get inspiration from real life; while real life fashion designers look into the animation world for inspirations, too.
The more things change, the more it stays the same and Betsey Johnson is just getting her second wind as her creations become appealing to a new generation once more.
