PARIS, Sep 20, 2004/ FW/ --- Chantal Thomass, the woman who single-handedly reinvented the modern boudoir, is back in Paris with her new “boudoir” boutique located at 211, rue Saint Honoré in Paris chic first district.
Upon entering, one gets chills running up and down the spine as (s)he takes in the full effect of the boutique created by the satin highlights, boxes with plush quilted designs and pastel colours.
The existing façade and its original elements like the columns and the staircase are what
inspired Chantal Thomass to take this place.
The 110 square meter boutique is located on two floors. The “rez-de-chaussée” or ground floor
is decorated in pink and violet while the upper floor is in salmon.
On both floors, powdery and sweet scents of I’m Coquine, the new fragrance by Chantal Thomass, pervades freely through the air.
The ambiance of the new boutique is intimate and has an innate sensuality hidden beneath
its delicate décor.
Venetian crystal, chandeliers, rugs, wall fittings, mirrors perform a tastefully erotic tango.
The walls are done in soft plush quilting.
The space is dazzled up further by a contemporary
style which creates memories and fantasies for clients.
This is the direct result from the hand-in-hand collaboration between designer Christian Ghion and Chantal Thomass.
The upper floor, which is Chantal’s favourite, has a few pieces of furniture: a small table
in pink satin with a bow, two pink chairs and a changing area.
It is the quintessential boudoir to where today’s modern woman can escape.
There, she can pamper herself in Chantal’s world of luxury, coquettishness and feminine wonders as she prepares herself to seduce and to give in to secret desires and pleasures.
“My favourite floor is the first floor”, said Ms. Thomass in an on-the-spot interview with Fashion Windows at 211, rue Saint Honoré. “There are very few pieces there but everything a woman needs in order to imagine a boudoir of her own”.
The entire world of Chantal Thomass is exposed in the boutique as she refuses to hold back. Delicate lingerie, silky stockings, tights, negligees, dressing gowns and her perfumes are artfully displayed throughout the two floors as if in a deliberate to drive up one’s blood pressure.
If one is short of ideas for romance or is looking for something very special, a visit to the boutique could prove just the thing. There are numerous pieces that are sold exclusively there. There are also other items available that were not created by Ms. Thomass, but especially selected by her because they compliment the universe that she wants to put at the reach of romantic women.
Even her umbrellas and parasols are designed to give women the upper hand over men as they walk through the streets of a chic quarter. They are stylish, and detailed in a way that compliments the message of Chantal: sexiness is everywhere; you just have to open your eyes to see it!
Great thought and detail went into the conceptualisation of the new boutique, covering everything from the window displays, the interiors and product placement to the air that the clients breathe once inside. A novel idea that Ms. Thomass conceived is to give card with the boutique’s address on them. Nothing novel about that but on the back of those pink cards, women have the option of filling out the blanks with their specific sizes. This is obviously targeted to the men who date the women that shop at Chantal Thomass. These men will be able to take the card (no doubt slipped to them in advance by their wives or girlfriends) and chose out that perfect surprise gift for any occasion.
Ms. Thomass, who is also credited with taking undergarments and making them into garments to be seen outwardly by the public in modern times, is most content with her new boutique which is an expression of herself. She is modern, active woman, inquisitive and is always one with the desires of women.
