Bottega Veneta Menswear Fall 2007: An Excellent Collection
Milan Menswear Show Fall 2007

Bottega Veneta MILAN, Jan 15, 2007/ FW/ --- Winning the ‘Most Excellent International Brand’ at the Walpole Awards, a non-profit organization which hails the best of British companies last November, it is not surprising that Tomas Maier looked towards the UK for inspiration for Bottega Veneta’s Fall 2007 menswear collection.

From the British dandy to the English gentleman, then rock & roll stars to dock workers, Tomas Maier ran the gamut of UK dressing giving the inimitable Bottega Veneta style.

Three piece suits that are cut slim, the shoulders on the boxy side, but the bodice tapered at the waist with trousers made loose with a pleat or two, the Bottega Veneta gent can easily fit at 10 Downing St, or even in the Royal Court.

And, though some might disagree, both Prince William and Prince Harry will look dapper in most if not all of the pieces shown in the collection.

Bomber jackets in traditional leather finish, or quilted are also cut slim fitting, yet there is ease of movement. Outer coats that are either in fur or natural fiber is cut wide, sometimes like a tent, are just perfect for a jaunt in the countryside.

Now, if these more formal looks are just a tad boring for the younger generation, Tomas Maier proposed denim (yes denim!) for those who like to be different at times. Denim jackets to denim pants, the tailoring remained impeccable, the style at par with everything in the collection.

There were some military influences and of course, the already aforementioned British influence. Now, today is just day 2 of the Milan Menswear season, but two major trends are already showing – military and Anglomania Part Deux.
