DALLAS, Apr 1, 2011/ FW/ — They might have grown up and leading separate lives, but to Texans, sisters Barbara and Jenna will always be “The Bush Twins.” And on May 12th, they will be the featured speakers to the Women’s Auxiliary of Nexus 2011 Spring Luncheon benefiting Nexus Recovery Center.

A graduate of Yale University, Barbara Pierce Bush is CEO and co-founder of Global Health Corps. Before joining Global Health Corps in 2008, Barbara worked for two years in Educational Programming at the Smithsonian Institution’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum.

After graduating college, she worked for Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Capetown, South Africa and interned for UNICEF in Botswana. Barbara is a member of UNICEF’s Next Generation Steering Committee and is on the Board of Directors for Covenant House International. She is a Draper Richards Foundation Social Entrepreneur and a fellow of the Echoing Green Foundation.

Jenna Bush Hager, a University of Texas graduate, is currently a contributing correspondent to NBC’s Today. In 2006, Hager traveled to Latin America as an intern with UNICEF; she is still very involved with UNICEF and is currently the chair of UNICEF’s Next Generation, an initiative dedicated to reducing the number of preventable childhood deaths around the world. She is also the author of a New York Times bestseller titled Ana’s Story: A Journey of Hope and is a co-author of Read All About It!

2008 Miss Missouri USA, Candice Crawford, graduated from the University of Missouri and is a former KDAF sports reporter and show host. She most recently made headlines with her December engagement to Dallas Cowboy Tony Romo, and is making an impact by lending her time and passion to Nexus Recovery Center. She looks forward to moderating an insightful Q&A with Barbara and Jenna.

A welcome by Auxiliary President Beverly Barry will open the luncheon, followed by an invocation by Mark Davis of Park Cities Presbyterian Church. The theme of this year’s luncheon, “the Miracle that happens in between”, is a direct quote from a Nexus client who once described her experience there as the miracle that happens in between addiction and recovery, despair and hope.

Accordingly, a former client of Nexus Recovery Center will bravely share her personal story, which is always a powerful testimony. Additionally, a Nexus video entitled “The Miracle that Happens in Between” will detail how Nexus empowers women and families to break the cycle of addiction. Auxiliary member Sarah Katherine Francis will then introduce her friends Candice, Barbara and Jenna to the expected 500+ luncheon guests.

This 2011 luncheon is Co-Chaired by Susan Griffiths and Dee Velvin, with Honorary Chair Allie Beth Allman. Dee adds, “With our featured speakers, Barbara and Jenna, we look forward to sharing the importance of Nexus to a broader audience this year”. Wolfgang Puck will cater the lunch and “Nexus Blend” iced tea will be served compliments of The Cultured Cup. Also, guests can purchase $25 raffle tickets for a chance in 3 drawings: $1000 Saks Fifth Avenue gift card, a two night stay at The Joule with dinner for four at Charlie Palmer, and two court-side seats for the 2011-12 Dallas Mavericks.

Individual tickets are $125 and sponsor table opportunities range from $2500 to $10,000. Various sponsorship benefits include an invitation to a private meet & greet with the Bush sisters. Interested parties should contact Dee Velvin at 214.850.4087 or dee@paradv.com.
