PARIS Oct 4, 2005/ FW/ – ‘Active Resistance’ for Vivienne Westwood’s Gold Label today in Paris, presenting a collection that is pro culture, against dogma and aims to dress revolutionaries.
Spring summer 2006 is reminiscent of Rembrandts women, strong and sensual, takes hints from post world war II and is a ménage of forties silhouettes and asymmetry.
Waists are accentuated as Westwood plays with volume in the backs of caplet bolero’s, skirts that are pulled, pinched and draped in layers that fall both short and long and in baggy crutches of trousers for extra comfort.
Westwood ‘s mastery in knit plays and important role throughout the collection both as pattern and patchwork for dresses and military coat cardigans until appearing almost Hessian sack like for the final capes buttoned to dresses.
In a color palette of city smog, dull post war shades of gray are transformed into contemporary silhouettes and rag dolls with unfinished hemlines are morphed into women with distinct personalities.
Masculine lines are softened, floral added and rock resistance prepares to take over the world as Westwood flashes hope and light of victorious white, emerald green, gold and bronze.
Propaganda and misinformation are the enemy making Westwood victorious with a collection of resolute individuality.
