The Palm On Your Wrist: Fossil Debuts Wrist PDA Watch
DALLAS, Nov 6, 2001 / FW/ -- Pretty soon, you will have your "little black book"
and your appointment calendar literally on your wrist!
Texas-based company Fossil, Inc, will introduce the Wrist PDA™ and Wrist PDA/PC™
in early 2002.
Dubbed as the "the ultimate companions for PALM Powered™ or PocketPC handheld devices"
the new Fossil Wrist PDAs will be the first high-tech devices in the Fossil line providing convenience
and portability of a watch with the storage capability of a handheld device.
The Wrist PDAs can store 1,100 contacts, 800 different appointment, 5,000 tasks and 350 memos. Users
can access their data through easy to use drop-down menu's navigated by a four-direction button on
the watch.
The Wrist PDA by Fossil is a companion to your Palm where the you will input the data because the
Wrist PDAs only have read-only capability. Data from your Palm is downloaded to the watch through
an infrared interface which already exist in all handheld devices in the market today.
"The Wrist PDA and Wrist PDA/PC devices give the approximately 17.5 million handheld users around
the world the freedom to take their information anywhere they go, making their data wearable,"
commented Donald Brewer, VP of Technology of Fossil.
With big companies starting to develop "wearable technology," the grassroots movement
which started several years ago for wearable technology may find themselves support from corporate
America after all!
