Swatch NEW YORK, Oct 10, 2001 / FW/ -- Originality. Passion. The joyous side of frivolity. Imagination. The delivery of what one would never expect. Unconventional. Wildly attractive. Individuality. Positive shock factor. All across eras. Right on target.

Scene maker Vivienne Westwood and scene-stealer Swatch each made their claim to fame in the most revolutionary of ways.

They turned fashion on its ear by eliminating the necessity to compromise. When the mainstream rolled along with the flow, Vivienne Westwood and Swatch were not only riding the waves, they were causing them to curl, crest and peak. Clearly, they made the fashion waters less treacherous for others.

The standards created by both Vivienne Westwood and Swatch afforded other designers a safe entry into any one of the following: the unusual, extraordinary, democratic, rebellious, uplifting, fun, unisex, colorful, contrary, and outrageous.

Style setters. Vivienne Westwood. Swatch.
Vivienne Westwood celebrating 30 years of daring and Swatch approaching 20 years of positive provocation. Both continue to excite... in the most unique of ways.

This duo of fashion insurgents offers a "double dare" as they continue their joint revolution with five Swatch watches that herald the design architecture common to them both.

Vivienne Westwood and Swatch share an unusual enthusiasm that has led to many creative collaborations; during the 1990's with the overwhelmingly successful Swatch Orb, Putti and Life Ball. Event and more recently with activities surrounding the exclusive Swatch Boutique, 16 Place Vendôme, Paris, France. And now an encore. It goes further than amazing.

Flying Time, The Collection

"Seditionaries"
Vivienne Westwood's rebellious entrance and her subsequent fashion platform were cemented during her punk period of 1976 - 1980. Her clothing was synonymous with her message: a revisionist with a very clear utopian plan. Unusual materials fitted into fashion carried her cause. And certainly unexpected objects were added to accessorize and highlight.

And in the watch industry it was simply business as usual... tick tock... until Swatch came along...

Determined, black on black, tough, urban utility, bondage. Black leather wrap around double snap closure strap, decorative metal ring, metal case, black bezel with 12 steel studs, black face with 3 sub dial chrono counters, white seconds markers, reflective hour hands, silver seconds hand.

"World's End"
The Pirate Era lured those in search of the romantic myth; one of social undesirables cast out to sea... perhaps. Pirates was born..."Romantics of the high seas... Sun, sea and piracy."

And this attribute of "newness" is where Swatch began to take hold. Its profile of utter provocation landed Swatch the deserved reputation of 'being more than just a timepiece.' The pioneering spirit that was big on emotion successfully brought technology, design and an unparalleled style up front- and with a universal desire for more of this good thing... Swatch.

Anglomania Swatch Gent Plastic
You have entered a bewitching hour of action. In fact all 13 of them hold something of the unknown. But of course, to a restless fashion spirit, that is the appeal behind the mysterious life of a "Pirate". Plastic strap, continuous red rope design against white, yellow strap holder, "Pirate" logo above 6, Anglomania inscribed below the 13th hour, black metal sculpted hour hands, black seconds hand, black seconds markers.

"Time Machine"
Time Machine, a collection of 1988/89, proved a reworking which included a retrospective look at Vivienne's ideas of the previous three years. It drew attention to expert tailoring, offering a curvaceous feminine silhouette, and one with childlike affectation. It flirted with the historical traditions of the royals while paying a sort of sarcastic tribute to the ancestral kingdom. Such an overtly stylish look carried Vivienne's followers forward as they became the latest trendsetters in the rulebooks of fashion.

And wrists no longer needed to go mainstream or worse yet, naked! Swatch continued to answer the prayers of "fashionistas" the world over by exploring common ground with artists and avant-garde types who could contribute to the ground-breaking philosophy of Swatch.

The rebel in you is in full regalia and enhanced rather than disguised. Intimate details that define what you truly know and admit about yourself... great style. Classic blue and white broad strip design on fabric, signature Orb pin fixed on strap, metal case, white scalloped face with blue trim, Flying Time written under 12, Arabic numbers, thin white hour hands, red seconds hand.

"Portrait"
1990-2000 an era unto itself as Vivienne Westwood delved deeper into historical grandeur and focused on the French touch of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries without forgetting the Anglo origins of her established countrymen and women - Anglomania. This resulted in a harmonious geographic duet through fashion.

And a new artistic "duet" between the design and philosophy of both Swatch and Vivienne Westwood was unveiled in 1993. Two Swatch POP creations, Orb and and joint participation in the Life Ball Event, Vienna, Austria, brilliantly testify to the well-deserved "over-the-edge" image of both.

Portrait Swatch SKIN
As one feels in their own skin - so glamorous, so elegant, so stylish, so exquisite, so noble, so very "Vivienne". Decorative silver folio baroque floral design, ultra thin, silver colored face, Satyr figure set under 12, Roman and Arabic Numerals, golden hour hands.

"Gold Label"
The present and beyond 2001 is finite in its infinite possibilities. And so it goes with the brilliance and genius of today's innovative designers. Collaborative efforts which regard style, purpose, function, attitude, and a shock of fun all form part of the look.

Elements that continue to inspire those who find it necessary to be dressed for time.

Loyalty, respect, knowledge, and a certain history that plays a major role in your lifestyle. Some people are incurable grown ups with an agenda appropriate for those who challenge conformity. Frosted clear plastic, open square link bracelet, elasticized with gold tone accented beads, complete with three tiger nail charms and one signature Orb charm, square case, dial face graced with golden signature Orb image, silver tone hour hands and crown.
