Tommy Hilfiger Celebrates His Love Story With East Coast Style In National Advertising Campaign

Tommy Hilfiger NEW YORK, Jul 13, 2001/ -- Following on the heels of his well-received "Love Story" inspired collections for the season, Tommy Hilfiger's national advertising campaign for men's and women's sportswear salutes his youthful all-American spirit, his unique New England sensibility and his fresh take on a misty blue ocean palette.

An idyllic fall beach getaway for two amidst a cool breeze provides the ultimate scene for encapsulating the timeless, relaxed appeal of Hilfiger's designs.

"I spent most of my life on the East Coast and it's where I feel most at home," said Tommy Hilfiger. "Although we are a global brand, I like how this campaign captures the essence of the all-American New England lifestyle. It has a relaxed Ivy League feeling combined with the spirit and energy representative of the Tommy Hilfiger brand."

Renowned photographer Carter Smith shot the images of models Carmen Kass and Jason Shaw. The ads, which were created by Deutsch NY, capture the twosome in a playful array of treasured, easy moments -- strolling hand in hand on the sand, splashing animatedly in the waves and embracing on a plaid picnic blanket -- simply enjoying a seasonably crisp afternoon.

The steamy blue and grey peaks of the water, combined with the neutral appeal of the sand and rocks, perfectly complement the navy, ivory, cardinal and heathered grey of Hilfiger's collection.

Mario Testino shot the licensed product campaigns, including intimates, robes and sleepwear, men's underwear, eyewear and sunwear.

The advertising campaign is set to break in the New York Times Fashion of the Times in August, followed closely by September books including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, GQ, Esquire, Maxim, Elle and In Style, among others.

A major outdoor transit campaign will debut in October in New York City and will include wall units, billboards, king bus posters, bus shelters and phone kiosks.
