Summer Must Have: The Specs from Men In Black II
Jun 21, 2002/ FW/ --- They're back! Agents Kay (Tommy Lee Jones) and Jay (Will Smith)
reunite in Men In Black II. Their mission: Protect the earth from the scum of the universe.
Their weapons: The best that the armory have. Their accessory: Out-of-this-world eyewear
named Predator J and Predator 2 sunglasses from Rayban.
In the original "Men In Black," Agent Jay (Smith) and Kay (Jones) wore
Predator 2 sunglasses by Ray-Ban while defending the Earth.
In the summer 2002 installment, a sleek and modern variation of the Predator 2 will be
featured on Smith.
As a key part of the character's storyline once again, Agents Jay and Kay
must don Ray-Ban shades in order to protect themselves from neuralyzation and
consequently losing their memories.
For the sequel, Luxottica's Italy-based design team collaborated with Will
Smith and "MIB II" costume designers to create the sleek, modern Predator J.
Smith wears the specially-designed sunglasses throughout the film. Tommy Lee
Jones' character continues to sport the Ray-Ban Predator 2 sunglasses he wore in
the original film.
Both styles are unisex, made of durable glossy black plastic
frames, G-15 XLT lenses and offer 100% neuralyzer and UV protection.
As the story goes in Men In Black II, it's been four years since the alien-seeking agents
averted an intergalactic disaster of epic proportions.
Kay has since returned to the comforts of civilian life while Jay continues to work for the
Men In Black, the highly funded yet unofficial government agency that regulates all things
alien on earth.
While investigating a seemingly routine crime, Jay uncovers a diabolical plot
masterminded by Serleena (Lara Flynn Boyle), an evil Kylothian monster who
disguises herself as a sexy lingerie model.
When Serleena takes the entire MIB building hostage, there is only one person left Jay can
turn to his former MIB partner who is now a drone in another large government office, the
U.S. postal service, and prefers simple pleasures like standoffs with mammoth alien
insects.
It's a race against the clock as Jay must convince Kay who not only has
absolutely no memory of his time spent with the Men In Black, but is also the
only living person left with the expertise to save the galaxy to reunite with
the MIB before the earth submits to ultimate destruction.
Agents Kay and Jay provide mankind's best, last and only line of defense against a sinister
seductress who levels the toughest challenge yet to the MIB's untarnished mission statement:
protecting the earth from the scum of the universe.
And as always, Agents Kay and Jay wore black and their sunglasses, even at night.
Rayban is not a stranger to Hollywood. Ray-Ban first became the sunglass of
Hollywood in 1961 when Audrey Hepburn donned them in "Breakfast at Tiffany's."
They have continued to appear on the lead characters in nearly 100 films
including such memorable hits as "The Blues Brothers," "Risky Business," "Top
Gun," "There's Something About Mary," "Almost Famous," "Nurse Betty," "Meet the
Parents," "Pearl Harbor," "Traffic" and "Zoolander."
Smith's Predator J and Jones' Predator 2 sunglasses are currently available
and can be purchased at Sunglass Hut, LensCrafters, leading department stores,
independent optical chains, sunglass specialty stores, and other fine optical
providers.
