Ray-Ban Customizes 'Predator' Sunglasses for Marvel Comic Superhero

Feb 5, 2003/ FW/ --- For those who are interested, Ben Affleck is still very much single! And no, he is not going to marry Jennifer Lopez, yet! According to Reuters, the couple plans to wed next summer.

So, what is Ben Affleck up to while he is not with J.Lo? The handsome actor is taking on a new Predator -- fighting crime and defending the innocent in a customized red pair of Ray-Ban Predator Olympia sunglasses in Twentieth Century Fox and Regency Enterprises' new motion picture rendition of the Marvel Comics' legendary superhero Daredevil.

You can see him on the widescreen starting Valentine's Day in theaters nationwide!

In Daredevil, Ben Affleck's character, Matt Murdock, wears Ray-Ban Predator 3119. The sunglasses combine the traditional sleek design of the Predator line with a Superhero twist.

Ray-Ban added distinctive red lenses to the existing modern pewter frames in order to capture Daredevil's superhero persona.

A limited number of these special red lenses will be available to consumers. The Predator Olympia also comes in gold with a green lens, matte black with a green lens, gunmetal with a green lens, and matte black with a polarized green lens.

According to Luxottica, makers of Ray-Ban, the company was excited to collaborate with Twentieth Century Fox and Regency Enterprises on Daredevil. Ray-Ban worked closely with the film's prop master, Scott Maginnis, to create the ideal sunglasses for Ben Affleck's character, demonstrating Ray-Ban's commitment to Hollywood in developing quality eyewear for use in both independent and blockbuster films.

Daredevil opens as young Matt Murdock loses his sight in a freak accident when a truck, swerving to avoid hitting Matt, spills bio-medical waste into his eyes. Matt, now blinded, discovers his other senses are heightened to superhuman levels, and he commits himself to honing his new abilities.

When his father -- boxer Jack Murdock -- is murdered for refusing to throw a fight, Matt seeks vengeance, and takes on a secret identity as Daredevil, the Man Without Fear.

Together with his friend, Foggy Nelson (Jon Favreau), Matt opens up a law office in New York City's Hell's Kitchen, where he defends the innocent by day, and battles criminals -- including crime lord Kingpin and the assassin with perfect aim, Bullseye -- by night as Daredevil.

Ray-ban has been the choice of Hollywood for eyewear in blockbuster movies which include The Blues Brothers, Risky Business, Top Gun, There's Something About Mary, Almost Famous, Nurse Betty, Meet the Parents, Pearl Harbor, Traffic, Zoolander, Men in Black and Men in Black II.

Ray-Ban was created in 1937 for the military. Since then, the brand has become the most recognizable sunglass in the world. Ray-Ban first became the sunglass of Hollywood in 1961 when Audrey Hepburn donned them in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
