Navigating Time Around The World
New Oakley GMT Automatically Displays Local Time In the 24 Time Zones
By: Lucy Oblena

April 2, 2003/ FW/ --- 'What time is it?' is a question that is usually asked at the press room when an editor or photographer is covering the international fashion scene.

From New York, to London, Milan and Paris, fashionistas literally have to navigate the time around the world!

Changing the time on your wristwatch to the local time does not work very well either because you have to know to what time is it at your home office.

Next fashion season, editors and photographers do not have to worry what is the local time in the city they are in. Oakley's GMT watch can automatically display local time in any of the 24 time zones around the world.

But what about home time? No worries! Home time is continuously displayed on the main dial face. A smaller dial face adjusts to local time when the wearer selects a world city via a dedicated watch hand.

Sounds simple? Yes, it is. This essential watch for world travelers was engineered with a critical goal in mind: to simplify the overwhelming array of controls found in conventional industry designs.

The company created a dedicated alarm dial face with separate controls, eliminating the need for users to labor through perplexing arrays of button menus that diminish the usability of ordinary wristwatches.

An added bonus - the Oakley GM has a dual alarm mode. You can set it to beep when will be the next runway show, based on local time, and then set the other one based on 'home time' so that you can call your office while your assistant or your boss is still there.

"The intuitive features and unique aesthetics were designed with young non-traditional thinkers in mind. Aficionados will appreciate the unsurpassed durability and engineering, and the unrivaled architecture will capture the imagination of watch collectors," says Oakley President Colin Baden about the GMT.

"For more than a century, GMT has stood for Greenwich Mean Time, the global standard from which earth time is calculated," Baden continued. "GMT now stands for convenience, performance and the precision of Oakley."

The new GMT features never-before-seen design elements, a hallmark of Oakley innovation.

Engineered with the ergonomics of a spinal column, the highest grade of surgical stainless steel is crafted into stout links of solid metal.

The digitally rendered geometry surrenders to the shape of the wrist for maximized comfort and fit.

A pure sapphire crystal - the hardest crystal utilized in watchmaking - is treated with anti-reflective coating and sealed over the high-contrast display.

The instrument is sealed with 10-bar water resistance, equivalent to the pressure at 300 feet below the surface.

Oakley's new GMT wristwatch has a suggested retail price of US$575.00 (Honed case) $650.00 (Polished & Black cases) and is available in several finishes, including Honed case/Blue dial, Honed case/White dial, Hand Polished case/Black dial and Black Polished case/White dial.

Oakley's new GMT wristwatch offers an intuitive, easy-to-use design that combines quartz precision with the ability to navigate time around the globe.
